day 2 - the little things

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

I'm linking up with Bailey from Brave Love for the blog-a-day challenge during September! Day 2: Write about what makes you happy, from the little joys to the huge game-changers.

Austen & I were talking the other day how it's the little things in marriage, and in life, that can mean the most. I really feel like it's the little things for me that make me happiest.

It can be sneaking back to bed to snuggle Shiloh (who goes back to bed and burrows herself under all of the blankets, every. single. morning.) while she has that sweet, puppy smell first thing in the morning. Or when Austen brings me home more children's flavored toothpaste (being pregnant, this is a big one for me). It can be the little positive notes parents send me on class dojo.

Or how Lilly comes and curls up by my belly every morning for the last hour or two before we wake up. It's date nights with Austen to go grocery shopping at Whole Foods, and picking out a muffin afterwards. Since I can't drink this school year (bummer), it's lemonade after school on those tough days. Sometimes, taking off my shoes at my desk during prep, and just sitting while I check emails.

Or when friends randomly surprise me with Scentsy's "cashmere" bars (which are discontinued, but my fav). It can be b&bw candles lit, or the Amish fireplace turned on, or piano music.

Sometimes, it's felt balls on a string. Bringing out autumn and Christmas decorations, and listening to Christmas music. It can be drinking hot chocolate or tea out of Polish pottery mugs, or curling up under a favorite quilt.

Really, I'm not a tough person to please. Pretty much anything thoughtful or sweet.
